Intro:
Soothing female voice: Transmission begins.
Hello, Gamer Nation. This is Sarah, and I have a question for you.
- How do monsters know they're marked before they try to do something that means the mark is going to activate?
- What possesses the author of a gaming book to basically say in the introduction, "I don't think I should have written this book"?
- Why does it seem like some publishers just have to have those odd-sized books that either get lost in between the normal ones or make you reformat the entire bookshelf just to fit them in?
- Why is World of Darkness the only major system that can consistently put every last bit of the information you need to fill out your character sheet - including brief summaries, page numbers for longer descriptions and clear, helpful wording - in one place in the book?
- Why do RPG book indexes, as a general rule, suck?
- Why is there always that one person in the group that can't roll to save their character's life until you really, really need them to, at which point they pull off the most spectacular feat of the campaign?
- Why does threatening your dice with a microwave during a session full of bad rolls always seem to suddenly produce good rolls?
- How, exactly, does buffing someone's Reflex work? I get Will, I kind of get Fortitude, and I understand that AC is just going to have to be taken on faith - but Reflex? And why do I now have a mental image of my character shouting, "DODGE FASTER!"?
- Does anyone really expect players to not read the "For GM Eyes Only" sections of basic books?
- When creating a game, where do you draw the line between "new, unique system" and "overly difficult and incomprehensible system"?
- Why do some authors feel the need to give basic RPG concepts brand new names?
- Why does the d12 get so little love?
- Why is it that science and statistics always seem to disagree with what we see at the gaming table when it comes to dice?
- Where did the first dice superstitions come from in gaming? Or rather - who?
